Do you have a two-way radio system that doesn’t communicate as far and as wide as you need?

Would you like to extend your radio coverage WITHOUT having to add more radio units?

One of our customers were using their existing VHF Digital Network which, at the moment, stretches across the South of Scotland utilising the IP Site Connect facility, to communicate with team members.

Together with our client, we came up with a solution that incorporates the GSM network allowing the coverage to extend WORLDWIDE.

What is a GSM network?

The Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) is a standard developed by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) to describe the protocols for second-generation (2G) digital cellular networks used by mobile devices such as mobile phones and tablets; put simply, the network used by mobile phones.

Using a combination of Hytera, Simoco, SMC gateways, 2 mini PC’s, a router and a little bit of ‘know how’, our engineering team worked together with our customer to create a communications rack.

The addition of this rack enables them to communicate even farther still by utilising their Mobile Devices using a well-known PTT (Push to Talk) App.

The App can run in the background and receive or transmit using the on-screen PTT button.

Alternatively, any button on the Mobile device can be programmed to act as the PTT.

The introduction of this app, utilising mobile devices, cuts down on radio handsets needed.

As with a two-way radio, the PTT app on a mobile device, can be set up with individual calls or group calls to imitate the setup of the existing Radio Handsets.

This means that the existing network has no coverage limits as it relies on the GSM network.

The Mobile Devices can communicate on the VHF network from anywhere in world….
